FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sage Parts announces contract with American Airlines to supply and manage GSE parts at Dallas/Ft. Worth hub
Farmingdale, New York, May 3, 2004 – Sage Parts, the world’s leading supplier of replacement parts for aircraft ground support equipment (GSE) and a provider of comprehensive parts procurement and inventory management services, is continually developing new strategies that are streamlining operations and reducing costs throughout the aviation industry.
As further indication of Sage’s commitment to being a single source for its customers’ complete GSE parts needs, Sage has announced the signing of a substantial contract with the world’s largest airline, American Airlines. Under terms of the contract, Sage will commence providing GSE replacement parts as well as a wide range of support services to American at its Dallas/Ft. Worth airport location (DFW). Sage will own the parts inventory at the carrier’s Dallas/Ft. Worth facility, have on-site parts experts, and provide other services which will assist American Airlines in more productively and more cost effectively managing its GSE parts supply chain.
“Having Sage-owned GSE parts inventory and our people on-site translates to a number of important benefits for the airline,” said Mark Pollack, Sage President and CEO. “Because the inventory belongs to Sage and we’re there to help manage it, the airline can reduce their inventory expenses, both in terms of space and also in the labor needed to locate and pull parts from shelves. Furthermore, there’s less inventory obsolescence, and just as important, because Sage’s professionals know every part inside and out, we can offer valuable advice about which parts are best suited for certain GSE repair jobs, which parts will last longest, and other key recommendations that can help to eliminate GSE downtime. In the end it’s all about enhancing equipment up-time and lowering total cost of ownership.”
Besides Dallas/Ft. Worth, Sage provides GSE replacement parts and support services to American Airlines at the carrier’s locations in New York (JFK, LGA), St. Louis (STL), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU). “Sage is proud to have added Dallas/Ft. Worth...American’s largest location...to the list of GSE parts facilities that we serve,” continued Mark Pollack. “It’s yet another example of how Sage is continually working to make things easier for airlines while at the same time, collaborating closely with them to help increase their profit potential. The more services we provide a customer, the greater the opportunity for savings. We’re excited that our customers see the value in our services and that they’re making the most of the many different services we offer.”
Just recently, Sage announced the creation of Sage Parts GSE Services, through which the company will deliver an entire range of technically experienced GSE consulting services that include maintenance training, equipment inspections, on-site rebuilds, extended equipment-life programs, field kit installations, accident damage repair, and many other diverse services.
Sage Parts supplies virtually all types of replacement parts for ground support equipment. The company operates GSE parts warehousing and shipping facilities at its Farmingdale headquarters, at New York’s two largest airports (JFK and LGA), and at other airports located in key markets throughout North America, including Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), Puerto Rico (SJU), St. Louis (STL), Washington, D.C. (IAD). Sage also has a warehouse and customer service center in Castroville, California.
In addition to a ready-to-ship inventory of GSE replacement parts exceeding $10 million, Sage Parts utilizes an advanced computer database which catalogs all of the company’s GSE parts electronically – allowing parts to be shipped from the nearest Sage warehouse within moments of a customer’s request. The company also offers “eSage,” the Sage Parts interactive e-commerce site. Using a standard web browser, customers can log onto eSage and search parts by number, view photos and descriptions of parts, place orders, check order status and many other functions. The eSage system is linked directly to Sage’s entire network of warehousing and distribution facilities, making customer order processing exceptionally convenient while also helping to speed delivery.
